If kindness is sown, then kindness is what you shall receive
This year our school wide focus is kindness. Kindness fits well with our school values and is a key attribute we want to see displayed at Riversdale School. We will be having a big push on kindness as we have experienced some unkind behaviour such as, unkind words, remarks, and bossy behaviour over the past couple of weeks. At Friday assemblies we will be selecting someone from each class to share a kindness story where someone has acted with kindness during the week. We will be acknowledging these students for displaying kindness towards others. We will also be monitoring unkind behaviour and parents will be notified when children have been displaying more than one case of unkind behaviour towards others.
Good luck to any children playing sports this weekend. Try your best and make yourself proud! Remember to show kindness towards your parents, your coach, and your team.

Electronic Attendance Registers
In Term 1 we moved to electronic attendance registers. The Ministry of Education requires us to enter the specific reason that children are absent from school. Therefore, if your child is absent for part of, or a whole day, we need to know exactly why so that we can enter the appropriate code when marking their absence. You can inform us through a telephone message, or texting the school cell phone 027 5553534, or by messaging your child’s teacher.

Values Certificates
We will be acknowledging the students that received certificates for displaying the values of being respectful, resilient, and responsible, at Riversdale School, in the newsletter the following week. Ka Pai! You all displayed the school values so well last week.
Pool Keys
Please return all Swimming Pool keys to the School Office as soon as possible.
Scholastic Book Club
The school will no longer be accepting cash/cheques on behalf of Scholastic Book Club. Please pay your book club orders directly to Scholastic Book Club at the time of ordering, either online or by credit card.
