Tena Koutou Parents, Caregivers and Whanau.
Hello everyone,
Kia ora e hoa mä.
We are delighted to advise that Esther Gardyne and Fletcher Pomare have been chosen as our Rotary Young Achievers for 2019. They will be acknowledged at the awards ceremony this coming Monday evening in Gore. Congratulations to both of you – we feel as proud of your achievements across a number of fields as your Mum and Dad’s, and whanau do!
We have had some super tennis players qualify for the Southern Tournament in Dunedin. Congratulations to Lachie Smith and Flynn Reed, who both placed 4th and won through on ‘wild card’ entries. Well done to all of the children who played at Southland last week. We are very proud of you all.
Four of our golf teams have also qualified to play at the Southland primary school’s tournament next week. Congratulations to Sam Smaill, Lykan Eaton, Lara North, Flynn Reed, Heidi Clarkson, Fletcher Pomare, Harry Morrison, Fabrice Frei, James Roger, Blaine Dillon, Dakota Stevens, Khloe Robins, Dillon McBride, Stella Clarkson, Adam Wing, Eden Smith.
Heidi and Stella Clarkson have been chosen to compete for the Southland Representative Tennis team this weekend in Dunedin.
There are still a number of children who are not wearing sunhats at school. Can you please purchase and NAME a hat that they can leave at school in their desk. Thank you. PS Caps are not suitable as they do not protect the ears and back of the neck.
Remember – School Photos are tomorrow. Family groups, with or without pre-schoolers, are taken from 8.30am on. Then all classes, and individual photos are taken. These will be sent home with an option to purchase them shortly after.
Yahoo – the pool is open as from tomorrow
The temperature today was 22, so swimmable for sure. Keys for the season are $80 and can be purchased from the Challenge Service Station. Thank you so much to Richard, Jo and the team there, for managing key sales to the community. If you are able to take a turn on running this fabulous school and community resource for a week (there are very detailed instruction sheets and it is very easy) please let Dana Davis know so that she can put you on the volunteer roster. The pool needs once a day attention, and as stated, is very easy to manage now it is running on solar power.

Staffing in 2020
The Board of Trustees is delighted to advise that Jessica Stevenson has joined the
staff in a permanent position as from 2020. Jess was appointed to the position that Emma Schlosser has resigned from as from 20 December 2019.
The Board has also appointed Kate Stiven, who will be joining the team as from 28 January 2020. Kate has been teaching in Richmond for two and a bit years, and this term is at West Gore. We are very pleased to have both of these super young women on the Riversdale team.
We are looking forward to some spooky fun in the school hall tomorrow evening, Friday 8th November. The disco starts at 6.30pm and finishes at 8.00pm. As usual, small bags of lollies, chips, glo-sticks, lollypops, and drinks will be available for sale. Keep your costumes and any decorations and bring them along so that we can make the hall look as spooky as the children will.
A huge thank you to Vanessa and Rob for the kind donation of time and disco music, lights and DJ skills.
We have invited our Waimea Schools along to join in the fun, so Waikaia and Balfour children are welcome to attend.
Tennis Club Working Bee (putting up fences) Wednesday 13th November 7pm.
